Are family problems putting you and your children at risk of separation? The Family Support Unit at Ibero can help you.

Ibero's Family Support Unit provides preventive services to Hispanic families whose children are at risk of entering or re-entering the foster care system. It helps families develop needed skills to face daily challenges.

If a family is experiencing any of the following problems, the program may be able to help:

  • Marital problems

  • Family violence
  • Alcohol/substance abuse
  • Legal problems
  • Educational problems
  • Economic problems
  • Mental or physical health problems
  • Difficulties in raising children
  • Lack of information on how to deal with systems and cultural differences

    What services are offered?

  • Intensive family counseling

  • Crisis intervention
  • Parenting skills training
  • Parent support groups
  • Hispanic homemaker trained to assist in Budgeting, Nutrition, Household chores, Safety precautions
  • Hispanic respite homes
  • Coordination of other supportive services
  • Advocacy for the child and family

    Family Support Unit also facilitates the use of:

  • Medical assistance
  • Psychiatric counseling
  • Educational assistance
  • Financial assistance and counseling
  • Legal assistance
  • Emergency aid

    Who may receive services from the family support unit?

  • Hispanic families whose children are at risk of being separated from their parents
  • Hispanic families who wish to be reunited with their children placed in foster care or institutions

    Who provides these services?

    Services are provided by Case Managers who speak English and Spanish.
